Had a similar problem, after the first test drive, when I filled the tank for
the first time, I came back out to the garage and smelled fuel. Nothing on the
floor, so i removed the air cleaner housing - fuel had moved through the carbs.
A little voice in my head said to check the oil - it smelled of gas - I
drained out 2 gallons of very thin oil. After a couple rounds of float
adjusting, I bought new floats, and chamber gaskets. two more rounds of
adjustments and I quit diluting the oil.
Pop for new floats and float chamber gaskets !
