Huh ?  The need for shocks has nothing to do with how stiff the springs are (as
opposed to how much friction there is).  If the spring will deflect at all, it
*will* bounce, and you need shocks to control the bounce.  Generally, stiffer
springs need more damping, not less.

IMO the cheap aftermarket shocks are considerably worse even than the stock
Woodhead shocks.  My TR3A got a lot bouncier in the front, and harder to control
over rough roads with new, aftermarket shocks installed; even compared to the
worn out and leaking ones I took off.

Not sure that makes the adjustables worth the money, but the ones I installed
(Spax I think, at least they were adjustable on the car, unlike the Koni) were
sure a big improvement over the cheap aftermarkets I took off (after just
installing them the month before).  I'd call them equivalent to the old Woodhead
shocks (before they started to leak).
