Why, since as a period accessory they would be perfectly acceptable?

I showed an MG in Concours (my first) at the national event in
Gatlinburg last summer (NOTE - my TR3 is my DRIVER!)

I was asked to remove floor mats (aftermarket), a fire extinguisher
(new/halon), a framed poster with car details, and photos. Participants
were allowed to display original documentation (I had an owner's manual,
shop manual, dealer brochure, etc.), tools, mats, etc. that came from
the dealer and/or manufacturer adjacent to but not in/on the car.

The story was "If it didn't come from the factory that way, it can't be
in/on the car"...my thought was "what about side mirrors?"...all were
dealer installed on MG Midgets. Certain unattached or optional
equipment such as tonneaus, tools, documentation, etc. could be
displayed separately and actually contributed to the scoring.

Just another data point; the experiences mentioned in the prior posts
are not just limited to TRs.
