I don't know the change-over point but the dipstick was eliminated somewhere
between the TR3 and the TR4. There is now a plug on the side of the
transmission. The procedure is to remove the plug and fill the box until oil
dribbles
back out. This is typical of manual gearboxes built world-wide even to this
day.
