Just a thought: he could set up a transfer pump and a small catch tank, to
fill the gearbox for towing and pump some oil back out into the catch tank
for driving.  Just put a pipe fitting in place of the fill plug to get the
"driving" level correct.

I've seen a kit for sale (probably in "Motorhome Life"), but that was a long
time ago.  I've no idea if anyone still sells them now.  Anyone on this list
should have no trouble putting something together, though.

The problem with not lubricating properly is fairly common across all cars,
not just Vitesse or even just Triumph by any means.
