Larry,
The account I heard was close to that, except that it was for sorting before=
 the engines came to the line.  I doubt the painting was done by finger, all=
 that I have seen looked like a 1=E2=80=9D brush has been used.  Sir John wa=
s known for hiring war veterans so the one armed notation my very well be tr=
ue.   John McCartney would probably be the authoritarian on these kind of th=
ings.=20
