Re:engine breathing/ventilation..

On my 948cc Bugeye race engine there is adequate "holes" in the block, (side
covers, fuel pump mounting, and Valve cover vent)for venting the internal
pressures of the crankcase.

I am building a 1275 engine and that engine was designed to use a "positive
crankcase ventilation" system..ie. a vacumn is developed in the crankcase
via a connection w/valve to the intake manifold. (No "holes" in the block
on this engine)..

With a race engine, I dont want this PCV system unless I have to have it.
What are some other ways of "venting" the crankcase pressures on a 1275 block?

On my street Sprite, I tried just removing the PCV valve and related hose
and just atmospherically venting the crankcase via the breather in the
timing cover...however, this resulted in a build up of pressure in the
crankcase which eventually blew out the rear oil pan seal and dumped a ton
of oil on the street..so much for that idea...

What is the current practice for venting a 1275cc A series race engine?
