Not at all. When I first started, my wife was worried, though not to
the point of trying to get me not to do it. What turned all that around
was when she started going to the races with me. At first, she didn't
think it would be interesting, but mainly she was concerned it would
impinge on her time to practice her flute. Half-way through the first
season I convinced her that she could bring her flute to the track and
that people weren't likely to object to her playing, even if they could
hear it over the rest of the noise.

Although I'm normally a fairly laid-back type of person, she says she's
never seen me so relaxed as I am on a race weekend, and that racing will
add ten years to my life.
