currently there is an organization who does certification of specific
vehicle's history and continum of ownership. that is the AACA. the AACA
does not "race" cars . but in the class 24A and 24B do show competition
vehicles. the cars shown in those classes are the real deal not replicas.
the documentation of certain car's history's is not an easy task if is not
the car that specifically won at some huge event in it's time! i have been
trying to find the history of one of my cars and it is very very hard to
track down the history of a car that was a middle to back of the pack
runner. not a lot of pictures of the cars running at the rear of run
groups...
verbal history from owners are getting harder and harder to attain also.
and! if you are the proud owner of a recently unearthed pre war car that
has been one of the most difficult things i have seen to document or wich
car of a 2, 3 or 4 car team do you posess? (evryone want's to own the class
winning team car as opposed to the car that was retired early due to
mechanical problems...right?)
there are lots of questions and there are answers! sanctioning body's
records, old programs, local photographers from tracks all over the world,
and racing historians abound! but, finding one car's history can be quite a
job! but it is not impossible!
BTW? anyone know "rex harrison" of salt lake utah from the early to mid
60's? (heck, it's worth asking?) LOL! (there is no way i would be lucky
enough to own "the actor" rex harrison's car...)
