Many thanks. That is good to hear. I had visions of my "matching numbers"
Alpine needing a new block!
I had heard of the "never start with the clutch in" rule, but I wasn't sure
of the reason.
The car is doing a rather good impersonation of the Exxon Valdez at the
moment, so there may be a new sump gasket in its future anyway - a perfect
time to replace the thrust washers.
You guys don't know how much help you have been to me already, this list is
great!
