Lee,
The piano wire available at hobby shops is very hard and requires two pliers to
bend. It is probably the same thing your Dad used. Thinking about it the only
problem I can see with the hobby shop as a source is fact that they sell the
wire in 3' lengths. That would be too short.
I have 3 unopened rolls of staple wire for a large Xerox copier taking up
storage space in my garage. I think this is basically the same stuff, very
hard to hard to cut and bend, only there are hundreds of feet of wire on each
roll. I will measure the wire diameter to see if it might be usable for this
application. Maybe one roll won't make it to eBay.
