Amen to that! The infamous "Hardly Boys RaceSpit 4" (ex-GP SCCA car from
the 1960s and textbook example of Triumph's "V" parts and approved mod's;
now very occasional autocrosser), has a welded 4.55:1 diff. It behaves
pretty much exactly as you describe on a Solo II course!
