The first time, in 1969, I saw and heard a Porsche 917 accelerating past at
150 mph.

The only driver to go out in pouring rain to practise at the 1976 Watkins Glen
US Grand Prix, (Gorilla) Brambilla,  spinning at high speed right in front of
the position I was spectating from.

Watching a March CanAm car at Waterford Hills in Michigan 2 summers ago ( a
small track where you can stand very close).

The smell of burning brake pads!
