Hello Doug,
Wow! I don't know what to say here. Even the name of my car upsets you.
Man this really throws me for a loop. I've been all over the northwest
with the car and no one has ever said anything about it being a put down
to them. In Seattle one trip we made a single the last round of time
trials and as we were loading the car back on the trailer a fellow from
Canada came up to me and said he was glad that he finally got to hear
what a 6 sounded like going through all 4 gears. He said he raced lots
of 6's with his 49 Ford full race flat motor and usually was so far out
in front that he never knew what they sounded like. We both had a good
laugh over that!
Yes, I remember your dragster at Woodburn, we lost first round to the
maroon chopped and channeled 32 flathead powered coupe. I think you
lost the bottom end. One of the things that impressed me about your car
was how period perfect it was. Short wheel base, red painted I-beam
front suspension etc. The injection just blew me away!! When Pat O. told
me how much it cost to have made, I knew I would have to make my own,
buts that's OK...yours was a work of art. My son had never seen an
ardun in reality and the first thing he said was "dad if we ever put a
v-8 in our car, it's got to be an ardun.
I hope your son gets as much of a thrill from running on the salt as
Cedric did and you get the same rush pushing him off on his first run as
I did. I'll never forget the smile on ced's face when we picked him up
at the four..his first words were "how soon can we go again"? All these
things are what make up the journey of life and it's a great journey and
we only get one pass down here. I hope to make it the best I can for
myself and all others around me. I respect you and your feelings and I
respect your rights to express them. I'm sorry if you felt that I was
needling you. I didn't mean it that way, I'm offering you an olive
branch here and saying it won't happen again.

P.S. If you talk to Pat, tell him I'll get his springs and manifold off
to him right away. They have been boxed up and sitting on the top of
the bookcase for 5 years-my fault. He reminded me at B-ville last year
and I totally forgot about until last night.
Again, please accept my apologies.
RM
I hope
