Yep, or at least, I think so. Weight does a couple of things: 1) it holds
the car down on the track. When you go fast, the least little thing can
upset a car rresulting in spins and other bad things, 2) you can actually
reah a speed where you need the weight for traction. So if added traction is
available then faster speeds. This happens when the aero forces become
larger than the driving forces at the whels causing tire slip.
