Dave Dahlgren asks

Since this new motor is 100mm bore and 95 mm stroke (almost 4" X 3.75" I
chose to limit it to 8500. The failure I had, was the first year of this
N/A configuration, and I did not have a dry sump. A large belt driven
single stage pump, but I essentially ran out of oil. (or aireated all 8
quarts that were in the pan. This system worked perfectly at 7000 on the
turbo engine but...........lessons learned. The midget version of this
engine regularly turns 10400 in qualifying (with exactly the same head and
valvetrain). With a 1/2" shorter stroke though.
Titanium rods and a fully balanced billet crank help, and certainly keep
the rod bearing loads within an acceptable level, but I'm still learning
about this non blown stuff. It is a different world. I see this motor as
half a Winston Cup deal.

Looking forward to seeing you on the salt Dave......

Speaking about half a V8, are any of you bent 8 guys running flat cranks?
Does anyone have forgings? Ford? (I'm still loyal)
I have a real long term project in mind and think I need to be learning
about different configurations.

Rick
