Keith, perhaps as a "Wannabe" salt racer I may have a slightly different
perspective on this current discussion. That I want to race at Bonneville is
beyond doubt, but like most of us, I want to do it as safely as
possible("safe" at over 200mph?) I see a lot of merit in your suggestion, it
is very similar to the one that is implemented over here for new
drivers/cars in Drag Racing (and I presume is used in the States)i.e. first
you make a launch, then a quarter pass, then a half pass etc.... I
personally would have no problem at all, if when I get to Bonneville, I have
to go through a similar procedure to the one you're suggesting.
