Jim;

A chop saw (abrasive cut-off wheel) isn't recommended for cutting 4130 steel
tubing. The heat of friction leaves the alloy in poor condition for about
1/8" from the cut. I read this somewhere but I can't tell you that source--
I simply can't remember where I saw it.

Thanks to all on the list who contributed their experience. It
really made a big difference and is going to save me a lot of
money.

After Elon made the plasma torch sould a lot like a light saber I'm leaning
towards a chop saw or a portable band saw. About a factor of 10 less
expensive. I'll just use the old cutting torch for plate and visit my
grinder.

Thanks!
Jim W.
