Don't mean to appear too ignorant, but all I have really known about Reilly
Industries is that they have this crummy looking, run-down brine plant east
of Wendover and that they have been sucking up the salt for decades to make
de-icer, potash, recovery salts, etc. I have always been curious why the
heck they are allowed to continue their mining operation and deplete the
racing surface. But then I looked at their web site and see that they are
this huge multi-national, global-wide machine involved in hundreds of
chemical products. So I will assume that politics and profit are what makes
it "ok" to continue mining the salt flats. They would appear to be a very
formidable opponent. To bad the feds won't declare you LSR racers as an
endangered species?! In the mean time letters and money help to Save The
Salt is probably the best weapon.
