I can't argue with your statements...We did have worse roads, cars with 
less HP, do-it-yourself construction (with meager skills), and we drove 
in the middle of the dirt roads, uphill and down, but I think that ED 
hit the nail on the head. Parents today, and the public in general, put 
the responsibility on someone else to teach the necessary skills to 
survive in the world.

Maybe its an attitude problem, there is a better playing field today 
than when I was growing up. However, in my day there was no worse 
punishment brought to bear for misdeeds than what I faced at home.
