Yeah Yeah... Yeah.... We sound just like our parents....
I find myself thinking/saying the same thing, to the point where I preface my
comments to younger people with "Excuse me for sounding like my father,
but,..".
I do think people are less responsible now then a few years ago, which
accounts for the attitude of it's the car manufacturers/
MVD/schools/McDonalds/governments on any level/anybody but me, that made my 16
year old not wear belts,
take the drug Du Jour, and run the civic into a tree a 4 a.m.
The good part is the cars are far superior, safety-wise to the tanks we
drove, and it amazes
me how many walk away from these wrecks, saying" I swerved to avoid a Deer ! "
One of the more annoying observances I've made is the accidents involving
emergency vehicles, cops, fire, ambulance, etc, who's occupants don't wear
restraints and either go through the windshield or out the vehicle altogether.
The
other is all these car enthusiasts shows on Speed, Spike or similar where
nobody wears restraints either. A few test/ reviews shows go on race tracks
without
Helmets at serious speeds, another nice tip for young drivers
I, as many of you, was no saint with my early cars, a lot because nobody took
the time to tell us otherwise. Anyone that takes the time to try to educate
kids on the dangers involved and how to operate a car properly in the wet or
emergency situations is # 1 in my book and sets a perfect example of Doing
instead of Bitching.
End of Rant...Bob,road rages but does wear belts, Wanner
