If your talking about the early 70's, they had 4 seats similar to VW Karman 
Guias which by SCTA definition  is a Production not GT
A perfect example is George Fields Topolino it originally seats 2 but not a 
GT, otherwise it would now be running as a Modified Sports. It was never a 
Grand Touring car.The year may come into play on this one however..

Similar today as an "Insight" from Honda.  Even though it is does not seat 4 
it may not be a GT. Others come to mind also such as the Nash Metropoitan. A 
compact economy car of its day but definately not a Grand Touring though it 
had only 2 seats. Many years ago one ran with an lengthed nose and was a 
Comp Coupe...
