Keith,

first of all, it's not important how you go into the air (frontend) - it's
improtant how you go out of the air (rearend)
If you need a rear spoiler to go properly out of the air than your naked
rearend is a trouble maker.....
The shape and cross section of the racer (cd) creates you the drag - the drag
has to be a combination of enough aerodynamic downforce and low cross section
- length of the car helps to get this combination improved.
The air which goes under the car needs a controlled airflow, if this airflow
comes on the rearend out with a dirty turbulences your airflow over the car is
badly effect - in other words your rearend will be a trouble maker.....
The body on the top and under the car had to be clean to get a right package,
or you work like Jack Costella, he has no airflow under the car, but this
works only if you has no suspension......but this kills your back if you got
rough salt or dirt....
