Dan is right on.  Its the old "a square is always a rectangle, but a 
rectangle isn't always a square" argument.  One is just a subset of the 
other.  While an engine driven supercharger always draws on engine power 
to work, the turbocharger can greatly increase back-pressure in the 
exhaust system, so it isn't a free lunch either.
