For a long trip, probably want to stretch the legs for distance.  State
highway type roads generally average 50 mph including fuel stops but not
lunch breaks.  Figure 1 hour per day for unplanned delays of a convoy.
 Mid-summer days are 15 hours of daylight in Seattle and increasing in length
as you go north, so no need to travel at night.  500 miles per day should be
easy enough (except under duress), maybe 600 on a good day with good roads.
 Guessing 10-12 hours per day travel, but open to suggestions.
