I sort of have mixed feelings about this. I read several
usenet groups daily and like the advantages of the format. Moveing
this list to usenet wouldn't be a smart move,IMHO, however. The
closed nature of a maillist keeps out the kooks and trolls not to
mention the spam and numerous "for sale" postings that the easy access
of a newsgroup attracts. =20
A newsgroup in conjunction to this list would have some merit.
It would allow people not quite as fanatical about these cars to have
easy access to tech help. It may even prevent several DPO
"enhancements" as people find out about the great parts availability
that MG cars enjoy. If some generous soul(s) were to regularly post a
=46AQ to such a group it would help many people new to the MG car scene
as well as promote both this list as well as the MG BBS page to those
who are serious enthusiasts. An MG newsgroup would also give us a
place to post binaries (pictures, etc) where they can be easily
accessed.
It should also be noted that in the past couple of years I
remember someone requesting that a group called rec.autos.mg (or
something like this) be created. Both times it was voted down. If a
group were created it would probably have to be in the 'alt.'
hierarchy. =20
