I had the same problem...the advice was a sawzall!
I didn't have one, so spent about 3 hours with a Dremel tool(and 5 cutting
discs). It's hard to get a good angle otherwise and don't even try to
manually hacksaw it off.
I'm afraid you're probably not going to get it out otherwise.
