I hoped some other lister would offer a more positive experience so I would not
feel compelled to add my .02. I am not an elitist, I've owned my current MG
over 20 years, I don't give it nicknames, it is a fun car to drive regularly,
but it is not a substitute for sex.
I have used the quick lube places for many years for my MG, Cadd, volvo, jeep,
acura, etc. As long as you can watch the work in progress, have knowledge of
what should be done and how, they are quick, convenient, cheap. The Mg and the
jeep are the only vehicles we still have that have grease fittings. I know to
tell the grease monkey where the grease fittings are, how to remove and replace
the drain plugs and filter, etc. while the vehicle is on the lift, I can also
conveniently eyeball the underside mechanicals, cosmetics, rust, etc.
When I take my Mg, it is usually time rather than milage on the oil change.
The store personnel are usually accomodating when I hang out under the lift
with them.
