You might also want to try putting some stocking over the throat.
The next option might be to try and find an extra 1/2 of a hood for
the side of the car your carbs are on. Preferably a Super Sport hood.
Any way you could make a cut out and flare the hood like the SS do.
Now you would have the room for the air cleaners.
