The CV type master cylinder that is on your car is designed to have a
resevoir that is mounted higher than the brake calipers so that if there is
any deterioration in the caliper seals, fluid will leak out instead of air
leaking in. all of the older disc brake systems were set up that  way.  I
realize that the newer setup has an integral resevoir.   I have tried
various japanese(inexpensive) tandem master cylinders and was not able to
get good pedal feel and adaquete travel out of the part of the cylinder that
operates the rear brakes.  I had to be constantly adjusting the rear brakes
or the pedal would get very low and than I would have to pump the brake
pedal to get any pressure. I ended up using a +8 master cylinder . It is
only available from Morgan  and are VERY expensive.  I would stay with the
original setup and keekp it in good shape using Castrol  GTLMA  dot 4 brake
fluid and flush it once a year.
