As the founder of this list, I believe I have the right to say that anything
that affects our hobby, be it political or not, is well within the group's
purview, and as such, is appropriate - and has been from the start. I respect
your right to your views, but the bottom line is that we as a hobby better wake
up and smell the roses, otherwise we won't have a hobby much longer. And, while
you obviously think that environmental maneuverings are apolitical, I beg to
differ. While the clunker law may have a much broader political basis than
other environmental issues, the fact of the matter is that most environmental
issues are largely democratic issues. This one just happens to affect the
pockets of many large corporations, and as such, they WILL endorse it. However,
were it not for the other rabid environmentalist issues, this would not get the
same level of attention and support at the legislative level...ie., you can't
have your cake and eat it too. You either get all the environmental extremes,
or none, and most of the environmental extremes are sponsored primarily and
LOUDLY by democrats. THAT was my only point. I could care less if you are or
are not a republican or a democrat, or of any other persuasion, but if you want
this type of bill crushed, you have, IMHO, to start at the base of the issue,
and that is environmental extremism - and that IS a democratic (not republican)
agenda. You can't pick and choose your fights!
