As a note for everyone, when I rebuilt the motor, prior to balancing and
surfacing the flywheel, I had my machinist knock off the old ring gear and
install a 55 to 61 ring gear (with the corresponding smaller tooth mesh) to
match the 12V starter. Al la 12V starter matches up with old flywheel. I
don't know if this will work on GMCs or not. Thanks for the info on the
resistor location.

The resistor goes between the regular feeder from ign switch. Standard Ignition
RU-4 works. It's for a Mopar. Others may work also. BTW as you may already
know, the 12 volt starter should only be used with a 12 volt flywheel as it
will tear up the 6 volt flywheel.
