Regarding your question, it's a very personal choice you have to make. The
thing is, this pick-up truck is yours, and you have to define what you want
to do with it before you make any choice. Antique vehicules are usually less
fun to ride than what their looks suggest, and unless you've got something
totally original and in perfect condition, which means a real "collector"
(who would paint a beard on the Joconde, just to add a custom touch on the
painting ?), you can do whatever you want to your truck : you can shave the
doors, get rid of the old engine, go IFS for a plusher ride etc. You just
gotta do what pleases you, because each and everyone of us has his own
standarts.
It really is your choice, and if you're not too familiar with what you want
to do with this truck, take your time and make your own opinion before
spending any money. Read magazines (such as Classic Trucks magaizine which I
think is pretty good), surf the web and most of all try to meet some guys
with a truck like yours just to make your own opinion and see by yourself
what you like, and what you don't.
For all the other questions you should find an answer to on this list :
technical advices, feed back on products or vendors etc. .Some guys are
pretty impressive (I should say amazing!) when it comes to technical skills
or Chevy pick-up trucks culture, and most of the others are really happy to
help whenever they can (this is unfortunately my very tiny input on this
list). But I've had various experiences with antique vehicules, so I know
what i'm talking about...
Learn, make your own opinion : this truck is yours and it will give you back
100% of your dedication. Just make sure you keep a balance between what you
put in this truck, and what it really needs to fulfill your dreams (if you
start with some chromes here and there, I assume the rest is top notch, right
? Unless you don't plan to ride your truck on a regular basis... ).
