Thanks for all who helped. And the winner is............................?

Hot water getting in the system. I thought I had closed off the cut off valve
but it was corroded and needed to be freed to be fully closed. Apparently my
evaporator's tubes are combination heat and cold. Now I have a "real" a/c
systems.
