Dave,
    If you do not have a shroud on the radiator the fan will have to sit 
real close to the radiator to pull air through it. I'm talking a couple 
inches maybe, not sure how much stock appearance you want to keep with the 
truck. A shroud will be most helpful to pull sufficient air through the 
rad.   Since the radiator was rodded out we know its not clogged so 
something is definitely amiss with the setup----somewhere...   keep us
