Hi Al,

What Carbs are you running?  The only ones I know of that run directly to the
timing cover are HIF's, and a 66 shouldn't be running these.  Could the tubing
be plumbed up Wrong by the PO?  Are you in fact running HIF's?  Sorry, I guess I
need more info to help.
