True.... however, if cosmetically shiny hardware is what you are after, you 
can buy most but not all, grade 5 and 8 hardware with a corrosion resistant 
coating (not stainless) which stays reasonably shiny for a long time after 
surrounding area has rusted.... I've had very good luck with a hobbyist cad 
plating kit - in fact, after 25,000 miles and 2 years of outside parking, 
none of the plated hardware on my MGB has shown any signs of corrosion.
