I have both a 200 amp Miller and a 200 amp Esab , both over 20 years old
. in my shop. The Miller is an excellent unit on heavier stuff, the Esab
better in tight quarters and on lighter stuff due top the smaller handle
. Look at what you're buying, the retail units that people like HD sell
are rated at 100-120 amps at a 10 to 20% duty cycle, that means they'd
better not be welding 80-90%of the time , and have a short life span .
If you want a decent welder that will outlive you go to a local welding
supply store, explain what you're doing with it , and let them fix you
up with something suitable. Going to HD to buy a welder is silly, the
person advising you on the purchase was probably a 7-11 store clerk last
week .

Regards
John
