A fellow here in Salt Lake is a big Lotus fan, and has a few of them on
hand [ http://utahlotusmuseum.com ] including an Elise. Not street legal,
even though I did drive it from his previous building to the British Field
day one year.

I have driven it at some IVR events, and it is quite an impressive car.
This has been on a "road course" of about 1 mile, set up with cones around
the Wendover concrete. With the Rover motor, tuned to about 185 hp, it
runs times comparable to a BSP Corvette on our track. This one has some
Avon tires that aren't quite race rubber, probably comparable to the Falken
Azenis. That car will go where you point it, no questions asked. Well, there
was that one time I took out about 6 cones in the kink on the front straight,
but I won't blame that one on the car ;-)

There is another local fellow who has one of the new ones on order, maybe
later this summer he'll bring it out to an IVR race weekend, and we can see
how it does. Maybe I can convince him to enter the Wendover Pro Solo at the
end of July. Bring sunscreen and plenty of fluids, I hear Wendover can get
a tad warm that time of year.
