For advance design trucks, I saw a very trick way to set up a stereo system. A
second glove box set up was salvaged from a donor truck and the center grill
area in the dash was converted such that the grill opened and closed just like
the glove box. The handle to the ash tray became the handle to the grill area
(requires losing the ash tray). Inside was a very nice stereo. It concealed
it completely and looked very original. I would have never known until the
owner showed me. I can get some pictures if anyone is interested. (By the
way, this is a '51 COE truck in which the rear 1/4 section from a suburban was
grafted into the cab making it an extended COE with rear seats. The fellow did
such a superb job that it looks original. He gets may crinkley forehead looks.)

Why cut anything. I was planning on fabricating a bolt in plate to go in
the glove box (I never use it for gloves anyway). There are some of the
new CD changers that you can hook into virtually any radio, and not have to
cut anything. I have been looking at some of the Alpine speakers and it
looks like I could install two of the small ones in my stock radio speaker
enclosure without any major modification and another pair of speakers could
be mounted under the seat, or under the dash. This is how I plan on
setting mine up, but then I am not a serious audiophile.
