Well, most of the time.
At Triuphest '98 in San Luis Obispo, on Saturday morning we had the Funcours
judging-and it was cold! Cold and overcast. Well, by the end of judging, it
warmed up a bit, but was still quite overcast. No problem. Put the top down and
we all started out on the Rallye. We get out there, in the middle of who knows
where-and it starts to rain!
Ok. I have a Spitfire-great aerodynamics-if you keep moving, you don't get wet!
Whilst we passed all sorts of Triumphs off to the sides of the road, putting
their tops up and getting the rain gear on, we just wizzed by!
By the end of the rallye, though, it was coming down pretty good-but, hey! it's
a Spitfire-keep moving and keep dry! (though we did have to roll up the
windows.)
I was really glad that the finish was under the porte-cochere at the hotel.
I think that San Diego sometimes gets rain in October-I once spent a very, very
wet *October* weekend camping out on Mission Bay. (Luckily, one of the people
we were with had a pal who was a pr person at one of the big resort hotels
there-and they comped us a couple of very nice suites! But it took days for my
down sleeping bag to dry out!)
