I have seen a new symptom at the Roadster Facoty as of late. It used to be they
told you that a part was out of stock and then gave you the option to reorder.
Now on many parts they specifically tell you that it is in stock, then call you
back the next day and tell you the part is backordered. When you patiently
explain to them that the part was explicitly said to be in stock, they give
some
mumbled story about the parts being in stock when ordered, but when they
pulled
them they were not.

It seems that the inventory tracking system (maybe its a second hand abacus)
should stop letting them sell past their parts in stock. In any event it has
started happening about one month ago, and it happens with too much frequency
to
continue to be errors. It almost seems like they were losing too much business
when they were telling people the parts were out of stock. Instead of properly
fixing the problem (that takes money) they have found a third alternative.
