May I suggest first wire-brushing the visible threads, then breaking loose
the nut with a 6-point deep-well socket, breaker bar, and 2x4 if necessary.

If you got it off with a Crescent wrench, without rounding off the corners,
I think ya got lucky !!



Of course, I've never been one to turn down Dumb Luck when it came my way,
just wouldn't bet the farm on it, or a locked taper pin, either.
