> I am planning to do a frame off, ground up ( or whatever you want to
call it--possibly crazy) restoration on my 72 TR6. I was wondering if I
could get some input from those of you who have been there, done that, and
have the t-shirt to prove it. Since I have never done a total body off
restoration, I have lots of questions before <snip>

Dan,

A couple of tips:
1) Do all the panel replacement and patching before you pull the body off
of the frame. The frame will act as your alignment fixture (assuming it
isn't bent).
2) When lifting the body off KEEP THE DOORS CLOSED. The body does not have
the structural strength to maintain its shape on its own.
3) Take the four fenders off when removing the body. We used a couple of
ratcheting come-alongs attached to the roof rafters. If you don't trust
the roof rafters build some wood arches out of two-by stock.
4) Some of the attachment bolts WILL be rusted. And the worst ones will be
in areas not accessible by a hack saw. A small oxy-acetelyne torch will
save you a few years in purgatory.

Good luck and remember, it is a learning experience.

Dave
