Hugh,
All of 5 of my TR6s and most of the ones I've seen have the antenna
mounted on the left front fender near the "A" post. I've seen them
mounted on the right fender and on the rear shelf however. The two 6s in
my garage vary slightly but the centerline of the hole is approx.1 inch
from the edge of the fender adjacent to the hood (bonnet) and 6 inches
directly back to the door edge. there is a 1 inch hole in the left inner
fender through which the antenna lead passes and is sealed with a rubber
grommet. This hole appears to be factory drilled, but I can't say for sure.
You will have to carefully trim the opening in the facia support with a
saw or dremmel tool. The depth is limited by the location of the heater,
but enough room for most units. There is a white and pink wire from the
ignition switch that is the radio hot lead, at least on my 75s. I'm not
so sure of the earlier models. Of course you'll also have to run an
"always hot" lead for the clock and memory. Seems like I ran a fused
lead to the spades on the brown or purple wires on the fuse block for this.
