The original cork seal will wear and shrink over time, will leak fuel if
you don't keep it adjusted.  I replaced the seal in mine with a short
length of modern nitrile fuel line, it's only had to be adjusted once in
10 or 12 years.  The valve is very handy when you're cleaning the
sediment bowl ...

The fuel valve was deleted at some point (60,000 ? don't recall), if I
had a later car without the valve I would add one.

Which IMO is pretty silly for a concours.  I could just slap some
Triumph badges on a Lexus and claim every single part was a safety
upgrade !
