I would recommend the auxiliary release on the TR250.  I had planned on 
putting one on my wife's 250 but wasn't too worried as we had just 
replaced the cable with one from Victoria British.  Well on a drive up 
the Great River Road, the cable decided to quit working.  The cable was 
about one year old.  So, I would recommend one even if you think your 
cable is in good shape. 

As other people mention, they are not hard to make.  I used the the 
remains of the hood release cable on the release.  That way there is a 
nice t-handle to grasp.
