In addition to all of the good advice you have already received, under no 
circumstances should you allow the engine to turn with the head off unless you 
have clamped the liners tightly in place. If you turn the engine with the 
liners unsecured, you risk 1 or more of the liners being disturbed, and 
possibly breaking the seal at the figure 8 gasket where the liners meet the 
block. That would add a lot of extra work to your project.
