Thanks for the calming words from people. Someone asked me to explain what
I meant by 'engine won't turn over'. OK its: 'crankshaft seems like it's
welded to the block'. And now I've got a second opinion- (by someone who
has actually made Triumphs RUN BEFORE!)

Today my worst fears were confirmed: I may have to take my engine back out!
However, because of an expert's guidance, those fears seemed more of a mere
hindrance-- maybe nothing more than Triumph hiccup, a tr3 moment, a welcome
to the marque kind of thing...

Really Doug's presense varified some of my findings: that the engine won't
budge. With gearbox and engine in place within the car we managed to
disengage the clutch (or so we think.) We removed things that I had added
to the engine after it came back from the engine shop, we even loosened 2 of
the 3 cam bearing retainer screws (remember from earlier posts how I found
these loose?). Unfortunately one of the cam bearing retainer screws can't
be loosened without removing the draft tube (a tomorrow task). But I have
to ask, "Can just 1 overtightened cam bearing retainor screw keep the engine
from being 'turned over using 75 ftlbs of effort on the handcrank?' If your
answer is 'no' then mostlikely the problem is with work done by the engine
shop. Proably by noon tomorrow I should be able to put all of the blame on
the engine shop. Stay tuned-
Thanks,
Paul Dorsey
