Perfectly normal for all motors with mechanical lifters. If there is lash,
it will make a little noise when the lifter closes up the gap. And it's
essential to always have _some_ lash, under all conditions, since otherwise
the valve train will hold the valve off it's seat and allow combustion gases
to leak past, quickly ruining the valve.

As someone mentioned, a cast rocker cover will help muffle the noise, if it
bothers you. But don't try to get rid of the noise by taking out the
specified lash.
